In it, he discusses a number of topics including: the challenges the industry is likely to face over the next few years, the new yacht code, current opportunities for seafarers and how the MLC is benefitting the yachting community.
He also raises the lack of marinas in the Med and the shortfall of well-qualified and suitable crew members vs. the full order books of shipyards for new yachts, which although a positive sign for the industry means a demand for more crew.
Highlighting the equality and diversity in today’s crew whilst reminding us that it is still very much an ‘owners choice’ when it comes to crew selection, he talks about the MLC and how they continue to help and benefit the industry in these matters and more.
Finally, when discussing the new yacht code, Geoff said: “It is a positive step for the industry with regards to both building regulations and operational requirements and restrictions. As owners of yachts change their demands, so must the industry be able to adapt and demonstrate an awareness of continued improvement.”
